I was looking through some pictures
I have in my computer, and I found these photos that I took about two years
ago. It was in New York, at my friend’s apartment, I was very jet-lagged, awake
in early morning. Somehow, my friend does not have curtains in her apartment,
so the sunshine would fill her apartment like this everyday when I stayed there
during winter break.
I
find the source of these pictures interesting. For the picture that is occupied
by a window, if the source is the sun outside of the window, how is the wall
next to the window lighted? Are they lighted by the sun directly coming from
the window? Or reflected by the glass on the window? Or reflected by the wall
opposite to the window? If I want to set up a scene that the light looks like
the lights in these pictures, which angle can I use?
What beautiful and creative shots! I love the distinct difference between direct sunlight and reflected light! Really great! I also love the fact that you can tell from the quality and type of sunlight in the room that it's morning sun. The angle and crisp, deeper amber is beautiful! In theater we often recreate an interior "bounce" or reflection of light with higher side angles that would react sort of like a wall and ceiling combined. Different combinations of angles can do wonders!
